Porch, built in two phases

Materials

Timber: rough-sawn DF. 8x12 drop beams, 8x10 truss members, 8x8 posts: heavier than TJ's engineered porch (6x12, 6x10, 6x6; RMG 199255)
Connectors: concealed: knife plates and hidden hangers inside the timber, concealed post bases. Nothing bolted to the beam faces; the engineer selects the hardware
Deck: composite, 5½" boards with 3/16" gaps, picture-frame border, on 2x10 PT joists @ 16"
Brick: light brick skirt, pedestals and wainscot on Superior's ledge
Porch roofs: standing seam, Galvalume with PVDF finish, charcoal
House roof: GAF shingles, charcoal (as built)

Open for George and the engineer: lateral bracing (a Clayton-approved tie, steel post cores or knee braces); bearing for the ridge post, which stands over fill; the frieze over the eave beams, which holds the shared beam line; and the Clayton truss review for the gable's overframe. Every member size is TJ's Colorado precedent, to be re-designed for Michigan loads.
